1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Collectra handles information when you use the Collectra iOS app or visit collectra.uk. The initial release of Collectra works without an account or Collectra-operated server.
2. Information stored on your device
Information you add to Collectra is stored locally on your iPhone. This may include:
- Products you have collected and individual collection entries
- Dates, countries, locations and optional private notes
- Photos you select or take for an entry
- Tags, favourites, comparisons and personal rankings
- Profile choices, badges, passport stamps and collection order
Collectra does not require you to create an account or submit your name, email address or password to use these features.
3. Camera, photos and location
Camera. If you allow camera access, Collectra uses it to scan retail barcodes. Camera content is processed for the feature you requested.
Photos. When you choose a photo, Collectra can read available photo metadata, including GPS metadata, to suggest the country where an entry was recorded. The selected photo and chosen country are stored with your local collection.
Location. If you allow location access, Collectra may use your current location to determine the country for a new entry or passport stamp. If you do not allow access, you can choose the country manually.
You can change these permissions at any time in iPhone Settings.
4. Barcode lookup
Collectra first checks its on-device catalogue and saved barcode matches. If a retail barcode is not recognised locally, the barcode number may be sent to the public Open Food Facts product database to look for a product name and brand. Your notes, photos, collection history and precise location are not included in that lookup.
Open Food Facts processes requests under its own terms and privacy practices.
5. Website information
This website does not provide an account, advertising profile or marketing signup. The hosting provider may process limited technical information required to deliver the site securely, such as IP address, browser information, request time and security logs.
6. Analytics, tracking and advertising
The initial Collectra release does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking or a third-party analytics SDK. Collectra does not sell personal information.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your local collection remains on your device until you edit or delete entries, remove photos, or delete the app and its data. Because the initial release has no Collectra account, we cannot remotely recover a deleted local collection.
8. Children
Collectra is not directed to children. Product categories available in the app may include age-restricted products, and users must follow the laws and age requirements that apply in their location.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Collectra’s features or legal obligations change. The latest version will remain available at collectra.uk/privacy with its revision date.
